Library General Information

The AFB library is a resource that all members and students are encouraged to take advantage of. Our collection of books is nearly exclusively in French and numbers about 2,000 volumes. We have organized our books under the Dewey Decimal System. The majority of our collection consists of a solid base of classic literature and a variety of recent novels. We also have books on history, literary criticism, art, and biographies. We have a selection of books in "française facile," which have been warmly received by our students. We rely on donations to expand our collection. If you have any French books that you no longer use, consider donating them to the AFB library for everyone to enjoy.

In addition to our books, our library also features three other sections. First, we collect current information on Francophile activities in our region. This serves as a contact center for French people newly established in the East Bay. Then, we maintain a selection of current books on French tourism and culture. Brochures, newspaper articles, statistics, etc. are filed by region and provide a good source of information for the business or pleasure traveler or the person who wants to pursue further studies in France. Finally, we have a collection of audiotapes, Champs-Elysées, French in Action(Capretz), and Fluent French..
